The Barn Burner
In the small Canadian village of Wellington, Ontario, some of Canada’s top chefs left their grueling kitchen schedules to face off in a tourney exclusively featuring fellow food architects of the North.
The event was the 3rd annual Chefs vs Chefs Barn Burner, a charity game hosted by the highly touted Drake Devonshire Hotel, with guest appearances from none other than Doug Gilmore!
The Hockey could be described as 5-star-food-league level, the vibes were high and the atmosphere was brimming with the enthusiasm of the game in its purest form. My memory of what actually happened during play may have been skewed by the intoxicating smell of all the amazing food stations positioned around the Wellington Dukes home arena, but that’s what we were all really there for any way...
Custom meals by true professionals stole the show as the game pushed on. The happy fans, full of next level stadium cuisine, cheered on the West Broilers and the East fryers as they enjoyed their ice-cold bevies and delicious food from the various local and visiting vendors set up throughout arena.
For nothing but the joy of the game and gluttony, these men and ladies left it all on the ice and the burner to create one hell of a party. It’s experiences like these that truly transcend what it means to love sports.
