A study of dots-per-inch made with an unused roll of 35mm film — originally shot outside of Vancouver, B.C. by Alana Paterson for our second issue of CREASE.

We explore what hockey on paper looks like at 100-times less than the standard printing requirement of the generally agreed-upon resolution of 300dpi. When stripping down Alana's film scans to 3dpi, the dots made from pixels made from capturing an outdoor shinny session on film become nothing more than the abstract mosaic that everything is when examined under a microscope. These images sit alongside the original photographs, which are also translated into something else when printed through a screen, with one color, using outdated printing technology.

5.5x8.5” two-color (Bright Red & Medium Blue) Risograph print on bright white uncoated copy paper with light cream 270gsm cover stock.

Limited edition of 30.
